1. SHAKESPEARE AND THE WORLD BOOK DAY
The World Book Day is celebrated on April 23rd because on this day in 1616 both William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes died.
William Shakespeare was a famous English poet and playwright, considered as the greatest writer in the English language. He is often called England's national poet and the Bard of Avon. His works consist of about 38 plays and 154 sonnets. His plays have been translated into every major living language.
